The Football Pools was a proud supporter of the 2010 Blind World Championships held in Hereford 14-22 August 2010.

The Football Pools was a proud supporter of the 2010 Blind World Championships held in Hereford between 14-22 August 2010. This is the fifth World Championships showcasing the very best blind footballers from across the globe.

Brazil won the IBSA World Blind Championship for the third time with a stunning 2-0 win over a resilient Spanish team.

The England team had a fantastic tournament but just failed to take third place after China proved too strong in the play-off game.

The Football Pools Panellist and Ambassador, Gordon Banks presented the Golden Boot award to Antonio Martin of Spain, when the Championships closed on Sunday 22 August.

Sportech, through The Football Pools, has partnered The Premier League to launch the Premier League Health scheme. The Football Pools has donated over £1.6 million to help tackle a range of men’s health issues including testicular cancer, depression and alcoholism. ’.

The scheme is now in action at 16 Premier League Clubs across the UK and has prompted £0.9 million to be raised by Clubs in additional funding.

The Scottish Premier League Trust and The Football Pools have joined forces to announce an exciting partnership, ‘Football Fans in Training’.

The Football Pools' donation of over £250,000, and additional support from the Scottish Government, will activate the unique programme to help improve the state of men’s health across Scotland.

Operating out of all Scottish Premier League Clubs, supporters can sign up for free sessions aimed at increasing physical activity, improving diet and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The programme has been developed by Club coaches in conjunction with top medical and sports science professionals in Scotland and the Scottish Government Public Health Directorate.

Sportech, through The Football Pools, has partnered The Football League Trust to launch the Every Player Counts scheme donating over £2.5 million to extensively grow disability football provision across 44 Football League Clubs in England and Wales.

This project will significantly increase the opportunities for people with varying disabilities to access sports through their local Football Clubs.
