EPIC

EPIC codes are used to identify UK listed securities. They are now called TIDM codes and are usually based on an abbreviation of the name of the company. (Sportech = SPO)

EPS

earnings per share

off-track betting networks (OTBs)

locations at which a bet can be placed other than the track itself (hence “off-track”)

pools/tote

a betting pool in which those who bet on competitors finishing in the first three places share the total amount bet minus a percentage for the management. Pools/tote is often also referred to as pari-mutuel

placing and open offer prospectuses

open offer

an offer made by a quoted company to its shareholders inviting them to buy new shares in the company at a set price, which is normally lower than the current market price
