Sportech Announces Key Management Changes

Sportech PLC, the international betting technology business, announced key new management team changes in the Group’s B2B division.

Raj Sanjanwala has been appointed Group Chief Technology Officer to manage and advance the Group’s technology strategy across all B2B business lines. Raj joined the company as a developer in 1987 and has assumed increasingly more significant responsibilities over the course of his engagement, including most recently as Director of Global Tote Development.

Andrew Lindley, co-founder of recent Sportech acquisition LOT.TO, has been appointed Group Chief Operating Officer. Andrew has served as General Counsel for the UK Tote, has founded successful lottery betting and technology businesses including Lottoland.com and LOT.TO, and has served as non-executive director on several media and public company boards including Turf TV and SiS.

Julian Bewley, co-founder of LOT.TO, has been named Group Chief Commercial Officer. Formerly part of the founding team at CelebPoker, Julian brings digital technical innovation and transformation knowledge coupled with strong marketing and business development skills to the new Sportech role. Julian has held advisory and executive roles at various sports, gaming and technology companies, including ZEAL Network, 32Red and Caesars Palace.

Rounding out these appointments are additional enhancements to further strengthen Sportech’s Technology group.

Lewis Theobald, formerly of LOT.TO, has been promoted to Chief of Digital Development to shape the Group’s digital transformation strategy in Tote, Sports and Lottery.

Mark Bacha has been promoted to the role of Director, Tote Development and Systems Analysis to expand and enhance Sportech’s leading international commingling capabilities and core Tote engine.

Brett Underhill has been promoted to Director, Tote Development and Support to drive development of Sportech’s client portal and back-end reporting systems as he continues to support Sportech’s EMEA Tote client base.

Finally, Sportech Racing and Digital welcomes Steve Gore as Director, Systems Infrastructure to focus on providing secure, scalable solutions to Sportech’s global client base.

Sportech Technology Delivers “Ascot World Pool”

Sportech Racing and Digital, a division of Sportech PLC, is pleased to announce that it successfully delivered the new “Ascot World Pool”, a global commingling project undertaken by Sportech for Betfred Totepool, Ascot Racecourse, and Hong Kong Jockey Club during the 2019 Royal Ascot meet.

The World Pool is a pari-mutuel betting pool designed to maximize liquidity by combining tote betting from global outlets, including Ascot’s on-course tote, Betfred’s UK Totepool and the Royal Ascot pool hosted by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

The Ascot World Pool project is powered by Sportech’s Quantum™ System, the world’s most widely deployed pari-mutuel betting system, and delivered with hosting and operational services from Sportech’s Global Quantum™ Data and Operations Centre.

2nd Annual Bump Academy Draws Partners from 12 Leagues

The Bump Academy was designed to help Bump’s charitable raffle clients optimize their raffle programs and maximize fundraising. Team foundations from pro sports, collegiate sports, and special events were on hand to learn about Bump’s technology platforms and marketing strategies and to share ideas for taking their raffle programs to the next level.

Kentucky Derby 2019


Sportech, the International betting technology business and the home of legal in-venue and online betting on racing in the State of Connecticut, announced the results of another successful Kentucky Derby event, the first leg of the 2019 Triple Crown season and the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Connecticut

In Connecticut, Sportech’s Winners, Bobby V’s Restaurant & Sports Bars, and MyWinners.com online and mobile channels delivered the ultimate Derby day excitement on May 4th, providing fans with a betting an exciting viewing experience.

Across Sportech’s Connecticut estate, customers placed nearly 400,000 wagers during the day and there was an incredible buzz among the – standing room only – crowds as the strong favorite and first-past-the-post horse Maximum Security was disqualified and long shot Country House announced the winner.

Sportech’s Executive Chairman Richard McGuire commented, “We paid out around $3.5 million dollars to Connecticut winners during the day and that amount could have been significantly higher had the favorite obliged. Our online and mobile channels performed well, recording a 13% increase in activity.” Reflecting on the sports betting question currently facing Connecticut lawmakers, McGuire added,“We look forward to the State of Connecticut extending licensing to current operators to include sports betting, bringing current illegal sports betting activity under the same regulatory framework as betting on horse racing and enabling us all to compete effectively with neighboring states.”

The excitement will continue with the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes, featured at all Winners and Bobby V’s locations on Saturday, May 18th.


Sportech Tote Systems

Sportech’s Tote betting systems and services division reported seamless delivery of betting services on Saturday, providing service to its 90 North American racetrack, OTB, casino and licensed online betting operator clients from its operational base at the Global Quantum™ Data and Operations Center in New Jersey.

Sportech’s Quantum™ System software processed almost 100 million betting transactions on Saturday via more than 13,000 points of sale.

Sportech Signs New Tote Contract with Boyd Gaming

Sportech Racing and Digital, a division of Sportech PLC, successfully expanded their Tote Services Agreement with Boyd Gaming Corporation (“Boyd Gaming”) upon conclusion of a competitive bidding process. Sportech extended an agreement with Boyd Gaming’s Evangeline Downs and Delta Downs racetracks in Louisiana and further expanded the agreement to include a third thoroughbred racetrack, Belterra Park in Ohio.

Boyd Gaming is one of the largest and most successful casino entertainment companies in the United States, where the company owns and operates 29 gaming properties.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Sportech will provide ToteServices to all three racetracks with its Quantum™ System software – the world’s most widely-deployed pari-mutuel betting software. Betting devices deployed for the Boyd Gaming properties include Sportech’s BetJet® Series for self-service and teller betting as well as the Digital Link® mobile betting app, which delivers a feature-rich betting experience for customers who prefer the convenience of mobile betting on track. Sportech will provide on-site maintenance and support of all Sportech terminals and systems.

Sportech Testifies At Public Hearing In Connecticut, Supporting Legalizing Sports Betting

Sportech was in the Connecticut capital of Hartford on February 26thto testify before the Connecticut Legislature’s Public Safety Committee in support of legislation that would permit regulated sports betting through Connecticut’s current licensed betting operators, including Sportech.

Sportech Executive Chairman Richard McGuire, Sportech Venues, Inc. President Ted Taylor, and Sportech Chief Legal Officer Rich Pingel testified that Sportech has been delivering responsible betting entertainment in Connecticut for 25 years and has invested heavily in its Connecticut operations.

They asserted that sports betting is a logical and reasonable extension of services it already delivers through its 16 betting venues and via online and mobile betting operations.

They emphasized Sportech’s continued commitment to the State of Connecticut, its residents, and the 400 employees of Sportech who call Connecticut home, and reaffirmed that Sportech is regulated and ready to partner with the State to deliver responsible sports betting to consumers and new tax revenues to the state.

Daytona International Speedway Record Jackpot Weekend

Bump 50:50, a division of Sportech Racing and Digital, hit a record jackpot at this year’s Daytona 500 event. Daytona International Speedway raised $233,022 using the Bump 50:50 platform, a record jackpot for the 3-day event.

50/50 raffle ticket proceeds benefit Vet Tix, Daytona International Speedway’s chosen charity, which provides major sporting event tickets to more than 21 million Military Service Members and Veterans.

The jackpot of the 50/50 raffle is split in half, raising $116,511 for Vet Tix while $116,511 goes home with the lucky winning ticket holder.
